The Noraville Granny Flat project marked the beginning of our ongoing relationship with this client. Designed as a long-term investment to support their transition into retirement, the brief was to create a two-bedroom secondary dwelling at the rear of the site while the existing tenant continued to live in the principal residence facing the street.
Our approach was strategic and site-responsive, lodging a Development Application (DA) to allow for variations to local development controls. This enabled us to navigate existing site constraints and neighbouring conditions while maximising the use, orientation, and privacy of the rear yard.
The resulting home is a compact yet contemporary two-bedroom dwelling that offers strong rental potential - suitable for both short and long-term leases - and supports the client's financial goals heading into retirement.
Importantly, the design was considered in context with future plans for the site, allowing for a seamless transition to renovate or rebuild the main home at a later stage - as the Client's own residence. Following the successful completion of the granny flat, the client has now re-engaged our team to begin the planning and design process for the principal dwelling.
