A second house in town that families
used for weekend trips.

When we sat down to brainstorm the name for our new design and project management boutique, one option stuck with us in particular: Sunday House. 

“Sunday House” had a different purpose in the past, but today we’d call this a weekender or a holiday house. 

We immediately imagined getting away for a weekend to a warm, aesthetically pleasing coastal home that makes you feel peaceful and that your day is yours to curate. That Sunday feeling.

We met in high school and immediately connected over our interest in drafting & building design. After 10+ years of designing & developing houses, we realised that we wanted to do more than that. 

We wanted to use physical spaces to design lifestyles. 

This is how Sunday House Projects was born. And we’re so glad you’re here. 

kirsty & dane

I come from a family of building designers —
my mother and grandmother created homes, too.

When I was on maternity leave, I started dreaming about starting our own business and infusing it with the coastal lifestyle Dane & I love so much. I wanted to use physical spaces — houses — to help other people make their lives feel like an ever-lasting Sunday. 

I followed the family tradition, completed my diploma in building design with distinction, and soon was working in my family business. My passion for learning lead me to further study, completing post graduate degrees in Building Surveying and Bushfire Protection (whilst working full time!). 

In 2017, Dane & I were married on our 10th year anniversary on a hilltop overlooking Caves Beach, which is where he proposed years earlier.
Our chocolate Labrador Cooper was involved in both days.

We then spent the entire winter travelling around Europe — it was magical! After settling on the Central Coast, we are now parents to an adventurous four year old, and a beautiful baby boy.  

Meet Kirsty

and so, sunday house projects was created.

I’ve always been passionate about drafting and building design.

I pursued an apprenticeship in structural drafting specialising in bridges and worked for an international consulting engineering company while also attending TAFE. 

As a qualified structural draftsperson, I went on working for multiple companies and completing a graduate certificate in project management. 

I travelled all over Sydney, Brisbane, Perth, and Melbourne for work, which meant that I often had to sacrifice time away from Kirsty, family, and friends. I was passionate about what I did, but I wanted to have a slower, more mindful lifestyle.

When we had our first son — Lakyn — it just clicked for me that I didn’t have to choose between doing what I loved and the lifestyle I wanted to have. 

This is how and why we started Sunday House Projects: Kirsty & I wanted to help other people build their dream lifestyle, too. 

Meet Dane

our coastal sunday

Sunday is family day and it starts by going to the local café for hot coffee & breakfast.

Then we take a slow walk through the nature reserve which leads to the beach and our son Lakyn collects rocks, flowers, and other things from nature. Once we get to the beach, we take our shoes off and enjoy the feeling of the sand and water while Lakyn looks for shells. At the end of our walk, we get some well-deserved ice-cream and head home for a relaxed afternoon. 

We finish our Sunday by taking our chocolate Labrador Cooper for a walk and spend the rest of the evening around the dinner table with just our family.
